Sample Lesson Plan


The Blue Dog in You -- Lesson Four

Content Standards (from The state of Arkansas frameworks)

Render contour and gesture drawings as preliminary sketches or as finished products (CP.4.AI.4)

Compile a sketchbook that includes various techniques, observations, and art experiences (CP.4.AI.5)

Learning Objective(s)

Students render thumbnail sketches in preparation for the final work. (CP.4.AI.4 )

Assessment

Students will create a colored thumbnail sketch for their final artwork, incorporating their culture through a cultural symbol.

Activities

Students will elect an artifact that represents their culture and include the artifact in their final work. Students will begin sketching their 3 sketches in an 8” x 10” area.

Students will begin sketching in their sketchbook for their final artwork. Students will incorporate at least one cultural symbol. Students will complete 3 sketches prior to beginning their final work of art. This is the time when the cultural symbol of the student will begin to appear in the artwork.


Materials
Sketchbook with 3, 8” x 10” measured off areas
pencil
color pencils or sketching markers
